FoundIt Newsletter #2
My framework for setting product strategy, community wisdom, and product chat!
Hey there!
This week on foundIt:
My product strategy framework
The right strategy sets the stage for a product’s success. A well drawn product strategy contributes to long term wins and short term successes. I use a modified 3 horizons framework to help craft product strategy.
The broad framework is well known for business innovation, but I’ve added some modifications of my own to make it work better for product use cases. It focuses on looking at the product through three lenses - first, the short term must dos, second, the long term product goals, and third, a bridge between the short term and the long term. What managers look for when hiring PMs
I asked some great people managers what they look for when hiring PMs. We discussed what’s absolutely essential, what’s not needed, and what’s a negotiable. Click here for the post. I’m thinking of making PM interviewing a semi-regular feature of the newsletter.
Product Chat
I hosted a product chat this week with a small group of PMs. The discussion was mostly around metrics. It was great having a small group and we could really discuss individual experiences, but that does mean lots of people interested couldn’t join. I’ll be exploring new formats for future events, so more of you can join.
And that’s a wrap!
If you enjoyed this week’s newsletter, share it with friends and colleagues!
